10 Steps to Basic interview prep you need to win your secretarial admin job.
Research the Company
Every Company you interview with for a secretarial admin job is going to want to see that you have taken an interest in them, their products or services, figures and ideas.
1. Your CV
Have a copy with you at your secretarial admin job interview.
2. Know your admin work history and be ready to talk through it.
3. Have prepared answers to all the cliché interview questions.
It sounds obvious, but many people still use these lots, you should know these without hesitation, but avoid speaking as if over rehearsed.
4. Your difficult subjects. - Your weaknesses.
5. What you add to the Company. What value do you bring to the secretarial job?
6. What is your USP? Why should they hire you above other secretarial candidates?
7. Qualify all interview arrangements. This is especially important if you are crossing time zones or have been set up by a recruiter. Secretarial recruitment agencies are never as committed as you are at getting times and destinations right for interview. Verify then double check.
8. Keep good communications in place, with your secretarial recruitment agencies, if you are using them, or with the hiring manger if that is the case. Let them know that you are keen for the secretarial job, to work for the company. Keep momentum up right until the time of your interview.
9. If you are working with secretarial employment agencies, expect them to do interview prep with you. Be assumptive, demand it. They will know more about the hiring manager than you, from working with them. Secretarial employment agencies should pass on this expertise, properly explaining the Company background and the format of the interview and who will be there to meet you etc.
10. Have perfect directions and a plan in place for travel.
Be sure to factor in local traffic and rush hours etc. Always allow for delays if using public transport. Many great secretarial jobs have been lost because of bad journey planning. If you can do a trial run a few days before that is great.
